GOLO & Insulin Resistance?

There are a lot of commercials about insulin resistance stopping a person from losing weight…. something about fat becoming trapped inside your body?

Well, the GOLO does have ingredients in it that you will find for plant medicine that helps insulin resistance and diabetes.  They don’t mention in the ads that insulin resistance is also pre-diabetes.

I think if they use insulin resistance that they should also educate people on what it mens.

So, here is a link to what is Insulin Resistance

What is Beta-Glucan and How Does it Support Better Health?

Beta-glucan is one form of soluble dietary fiber that’s strongly linked to improving cholesterol levels, boosting heart health and immunity.

Beta-glucans form a natural component of the cell walls of bacteria and fungi, and cereals such as oats, barley and baker’s yeast.

Beta-glucan was discovered in the 1940s when Dr. Louis Pillemer discovered a substance that had immune activating properties. He called it Zymosan. While it did stimulate non-specific immunity response, it was made up of a relatively crude composition of various molecular structures.

Years later, research by Dr. Nicholas DiLuzio at Tulane University isolated the actual immune activating structure, called Beta-1,3-D-Glucan. In the 1970s, medical studies began on humans.

Many health researchers consider beta-glucans to be one of the most effective immune enhancing substances ever discovered.

The health benefits of beta-glucans are well known, documented and include:

  1. Supporting the innate immune system, which is the body’s first line of defense against illness and disease.
  2. Providing antioxidant properties to fight against free radical damage to cells and tissues.
  3. Helping to inhibit glycation, which is a process where an excess sugar molecule combines with an excess protein molecule and produces tremendous amounts of damaging free radicals
  4. Enhancing control of blood sugar and promoting reduction of the glycemic index.
  5. Reducing inflammation in cells and body tissues.

Most people have a compromised immune system these days due to the quality of food available, sugar in their diet, environmental toxins and ongoing daily stress. A compromised immune system “opens the door” to a range of acute illnesses, such as colds and flu, and more serious chronic, degenerative diseases.

Sugar has been Shown to Decrease Immunity by up to 50% for 6 Hours

This figure comes from a Loma Linda University study. But here’s the worst part: Since there is sugar in practically everything we eat on a daily basis, there’s a good chance you are operating with only 50% of your immunity most of the time.

The good news is that beta-glucans are available in supplement form to promote a stronger immune system and better health.

You can get the extra immune system protection you need by using the potent beta-glucans formulation, Immune Defense. Immune Defense contains 1,953 mg of beta-glucans, which is up to 2 times more beta-glucans than in most other brands. Immune Defense also utilizes natural Cellinfusion Technology which enhances the absorption of the beta-glucans 3.4 times to give you better results and better value for money.

Nutrition & Health – What is Good Nutrition?

Nutrition is an important subject, although often ignored by most medical doctors as secondary, somehow relegated to something that comes about by just normal day to day eating.   I’ve never been certain how they think that you can get enough nutrition from fast food restaurants, or the supermarket processed foods that most people consume.   Some doctors are catching on and recommending supplements but sometimes their understanding is limited in scope.   I keep asking when the subject will be reintroduced into medical schools so that we can have truly educated health care physicians in the medical field. (Did you know that homeopathy & herbal medicine was taught in medical schools before 1920?).

An example of ignoring nutrition was when a friend had gallstones, and her doctor wanted to remove her gallbladder. . II thought that the doctor would at least give her a diet which restricted some of the poor food choices she made, but no, he said she didn’t have to change her diet despite not having a gallbladder.   I was never sure why he didn’t think that diet had anything to do with gallstones.

Gluten Free Foods – the “Healthy Choice” ?

You have probably noticed a growing number of processed food products boasting with a label that says “Gluten-Free”.  It is the healthy choice.

It is interesting that a lot of people have gluten-free diets – they eat fruit, vegetables, meat – not processed foods.    But now you can actually buy ‘gluten-free’ pizza among many other gluten-free foods – cookies, cereals, breads, etc.

What does this all mean?   I decided to find out and here is an article on this

Gluten Free Foods – Are they healthy?

A Balanced Diet – How do you start?

Been doing a lot of study lately on the type of foods we should be eating, and what it will do for health.

It’s much better to eat a good diet, then to deal with the consequences of nutritional deficiencies and the health problems they create.   Underlying all else should be a good diet.

What is Inflammation? Why is it necessary and how to combat chronic inflammation

What is Inflammation?

We hear so often about inflammation. There is even a drug commerical which states that it will “block the source of inflammation”. Makes one wonder what causes the inflammation and why isn’t that being targetsd?

Let’s first find out what inflammation is

Why is it necessary and how to combat chronic inflammation

Inflammation refers to your body’s response when fighting against things that can harm it, such as infections, injuries, and toxins. The response is in order to protect the body so it can repair injuries and to fight invaders, such as bacteria and viruses

You can think of inflammation as the body’s natural response to protect itself against harm. It’s a big part of how our body recovers after facing disease or injury.

This response includes the release of antibodies and proteins, as well as increased blood flow to the damaged area. The whole process usually lasts for a few hours or days in the case of acute inflammation.

There are two types: acute and chronic

Do Drugs Save Lives?

I’ve heard people say this.  It really doesn’t seem to be a thought out comment but one which “everybody knows”.  I will sometimes hear it when I recommend natural medicine or remedy.

My question will be  – Why would you take a petrochemical pharmaceutical instead of natural medicine?  The answer – Because drugs save lives?

Well, when a person has neglected their health to the point where they are about to succumb to a bad infection due to a compromised immune system or succumb to heart disease, or any other ailment, it will save their life – well it will extend their life.   But, that is the point at which you need to start building health. And actually building health is a good idea to do before you need to have your life saved by taking drugs.

But my question is why you would take a drug when there are so many alternatives that are safe and work just as well.  Why are people so afraid for their health that they would get a “flu shot” or take a “mold” based product (better known as penicillin)?  What is the matter with their immune system?  Yes, the flu can be very detrimental to someone with a  compromised immune system. But what happened that their immune system became compromised.

The missing step is maintaining health, and building health if it is compromised.

I haven’t known many medical doctors who will give you any advice on being healthy other than to tell you to exercise and to eat a healthy diet.  A medical doctor works to help you maintain your disease once you have one, so it doesn’t get any worse.  They are not in the business of building health.

So, maybe the right approach is building health and not eating what has been referred to as S.A.D. – the Standard American Diet.

Find out what your body needs to be healthy and make sure that you get all the vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients in the foods that you eat. Or supplement if you can not get enough.   Eat for your health, not for your taste buds.

The Cause of Your Neuropathy, is it Unknown?

I’ve been talking to people about their neuropathy for 18 years.

One thing that I get often is that the cause of their neuropathy (nerve damage) is unknown.   Not only does that bother me as they could be doing something everyday that creates more nerve damage, but I don’t understand why the cause can’t be found.

So, on that note, here is an article where all the causes of nerve damage is listed.

Causes of Neuropathy (Risk Factors)

And here are some articles on some of the major causes  Article on Causes of Neuropathy

If you, for any reason, no of another cause, please tell me.  I want to research it and put it on this list
