Can’t Stay Asleep? Study Findings Say “Eat More Fruits + Veggies”

Fruits and vegetables for sleep.According to experts, healthy adults should sleep between seven and nine hours per night. After noticing a rise in people with insomnia and those getting too little sleep, researchers in Finland examined the correlation between fruit and vegetable consumption and its impact on sleep—revealing a strong association.

For their study, researchers looked at data from 5,043 adults aged 18 and older participating in the National FinHealth 2017 Study. For the study, participants shared their sleep duration and dietary intake of fruits and vegetables. The researchers also looked at other factors such as socioeconomic status and demographics. They also used a sensitivity analysis to exclude “energy under-reporters” to remove that variable.

The researchers compared the average amount of fruits and vegetables eaten by people with different sleep durations—short sleepers (averaging 6 hours per night), normal (averaging 7.7 hours per night), and long (averaging 10.1 hours per night). They found that short sleepers consumed 37 fewer grams of fruits and vegetables a day than normal sleepers and long sleepers consumed 73 grams less per day. Plus, that correlation held true with a variety of statistical models.

Given the strong link between fruit and vegetable consumption and sleep duration, the researchers emphasized the importance of looking at lifestyle variables when treating sleep disorders. They also recommend focusing on the fruit and vegetable groups with the strongest association, such as leafy greens.

Next time I went to the Market at the Oyler’s Organic Farms, I remembered that they had elderberry syrup for sale.  I bought some.   Then some how after taking it I realized my tree pollen allergy got so much better that I hardly remembered I had that allergy.  Hmm.

So I did some checking on all the things that elderberry has in it vitamin wise and all the benefits it has for your health.

Fibromyalgia and Neuropathy

I’ve often noticed a similarity between the symptoms of fibromyalgia and neuropathy.  I even knew someone who was diabnosed as having fibromyalgia who tried the remedy for neuropathy (WSN Nerve Support Formula) with good results.  I thought at the time that maybe she was misdiagnosed and really had neuropathy

Recently there was a study done on some people with small fiber poly neuropathy and half of them were found to have neuropathy.

What are alternative Cancer Treatments?

When we think of cancer, we think of the standard medical treatments – chemotherapy, radiation and surgery. We don’t have to list them as there is a lot written in hundreds of websites that you can find by searching the internet.

Most people have heard that there are alternative methods and that most of these are from outside the US.   But what are they?

Reverse Tooth Decay?

What?  Reverse Tooth Decay?   I was surprised when I read this title as I’ve been told my whole life that once a tooth is decayed the dentist will try and clean it out with his drill and fill it.  And thereby hopefully somehow saving the tooth. And, of course, if it is too far gone, the inevitable words, it will have to be pulled.

I myself have had too many teeth pulled and so was interested in finding out what this was about.   I was surprised to find out that this research was done in 1922 yet I’ve never heard anything about it. Or maybe I wasn’t really surprised that the research was  never followed up on.  It is amazing the research you can find not acted upon if you search for it.

Processed Food and Your Health

I have a quiz on my site to check on certain things that might stop someone from restoring health to their nerves.   One question is do they eat processed foods.

Actually, so many people say they don’t eat processed foods, that I begin to wonder if they know what that means.   However, what I want to communicate is that it is so important to read labels when buying food.  No, eggs, vegetables and meat are probably okay – well unless they come packages and then I would still check the labels.
